Driving license B+

driving license b plus

If you hold a B driving license, a trailer may be driven if the:

  • The permissible maximum mass of the trailer does not exceed 750 kilograms. Also, if the total mass of the towing motor vehicle and trailer exceeds 3500 kilograms.
  • Authorised maximum mass of the trailer exceeds 750 kilograms, as long as the total mass of the towing motor vehicle and the trailer does not exceed 3500 kilograms.

If you want to transport a slightly heavier trailer, you need a driving license B+ or a driving license BE. With a driving license B+, the combined weight of the car and trailer may not exceed 4,250 kilograms.
When you take the practical exam for the trailer at the CBR, there is only one exam. The combined B+ and BE exam. If you pass this practical exam, you have the choice of applying for the B+ or BE driving license. Of course, 99 per cent of people then choose the BE driving license. This means that the B+ driving license is very rare for the simple reason that there is only one practical exam for both categories.
