Driving license BE

If you hold a B driving license, a trailer may be driven if the:
- The permissible maximum mass of the trailer does not exceed 750 kilograms. Also, if the total mass of the towing motor vehicle and trailer exceeds 3500 kilograms.
- Authorised maximum mass of the trailer exceeds 750 kilograms, as long as the total mass of the towing motor vehicle and the trailer does not exceed 3500 kilograms.
If you want to tow a heavier trailer, you have the choice of a driving license B+ or BE. The previous page covered the driving license B+. Now it’s time for the driving license BE.
A driving license BE allows you to tow a trailer up to 3500 kilograms.
If someone obtained a BE driving license before January 19, 2013, different rules apply. Then there is no limit to the empty weight + payload. However, there are no cars that can pull a trailer heavier than 3500 kilograms. Of course, not every car is capable of towing a heavy trailer. The weight of a trailer is stated on the vehicle’s registration card.
