Hatched area

A hatched area is a section of the carriageway marked with diagonal stripes (oblique lines) that drivers are not permitted to use.
Only if a hatched area is located in a rush-hour lane are drivers following this rush-hour lane permitted to drive over it.
A hatched area can indicate a road narrowing. For example, it is used after a carriageway narrows from, for example, 3 to 2 lanes. This is marked with hatched road markings on the road surface of the ending lane.
Article 1 of the Road Traffic Regulations (RVV).
