The speed limit on a motorway for passenger cars and motorcycles is 130 kilometers per hour. The speed limit for passenger cars and motorcycles with a trailer is 90 kilometers per hour. The government is, of course, authorised to set a lower speed limit on some motorways or sections of motorways.

Between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM, the speed limit on almost every motorway is 100 kilometers per hour.
There are motorways in the Netherlands where a speed limit of over 100 kilometers per hour is also permitted between 6 AM and 7 PM, but not at the CBR!

Only motor vehicles that are capable of and permitted to drive at least 60 km/h are allowed to use a motorway.

The CBR may also ask what the minimum speed is on a motorway. You must then answer that there is no minimum speed on a motorway. When a bridge is open or there is a stationary traffic jam on a motorway, everyone is stationary, and logically, there is no minimum speed.

Drivers of a motor vehicle with more than two wheels stationary in parking lanes, lay-bys, and emergency lanes along motorways must use their parking lights and tail lights during the day if visibility is seriously impaired, and at night.

Drivers are prohibited from turning or reversing their vehicles on a motorway.

It is prohibited to stop a vehicle on the carriageway of a motorway.

Except in emergencies, road users are prohibited from using the hard shoulder, refuge area or verge on a motorway.

On a motorway, drivers of a combination of vehicles with a total length of more than 7 meters and a lorry are prohibited from using any lane other than the two rightmost lanes on a carriageway with three or more lanes. This prohibition does not apply if they are required to choose another direction.

Article 1 of the Road Traffic Regulations (RVV).
Motorway: road indicated by sign G1; Parking lots, gas stations and bus stops located along motorways are not part of the motorway.
