Military convoy

Definition of military convoy: A number of military motor vehicles positioned one behind the other, displaying the identification markings established by the Minister of Defence. The following identification markings have been established for the military convoy:
The leading motor vehicle must display a single blue flag on the left front.
The following motor vehicles optionally display a single blue flag on the left front.
The rearmost motor vehicle of the convoy must display a green flag on the left front.
Every motor vehicle in the military convoy must display at least dipped headlights day and night.
A military convoy has no special right-of-way rights. However, road users are not permitted to cut through a military convoy; this only applies at priority uncontrolled junctions.
A military convoy is not required to give priority to pedestrians and drivers of disabled vehicles crossing or apparently about to cross at a pedestrian crossing. However, a military convoy must give priority to blind persons equipped with a white cane with one or more red rings, and to all persons with mobility difficulties. If a military convoy started at a green traffic light, it may continue moving once the light turns red.
Within built-up areas, a military convoy is not required to allow bus drivers to leave a bus stop if the bus driver indicates their intention to leave by signalling.
More information about the rules for a military convoy can be found in the chapter on special roads, road sections, road users, and maneuvers.
