Right-of-way rule 3

Rule 3:

Drivers turning left must yield to oncoming drivers turning right at the same junction.

Many people call this “short turn before long turn.” I think you can do this. What’s often forgotten is that it must involve two drivers on the same road. I think it’s better if you just remember the rule. So, the rule I started this section with.

regel 3 witte en rode autoIn this situation, the driver of the white car wants to turn left. This driver must now yield to other drivers on the same road who want to turn right. In this situation, the red car is allowed to continue.

This situation is a priority uncontrolled junction. Below, you’ll see three junctions with shark’s teeth, a stop sign, and where the white car exits an unpaved road. In these situations, too, the driver of the white car must yield to the driver of the red car.
