Introduction of the chapter speed

The most important thing about speed is that you regulate your speed so that it’s always, truly always, possible to stop in time.
You must take into account the weather conditions, the road surface, the condition and load of your vehicle, and the traffic on the road.
You can drive faster on a motorway at three o’clock at night than in a traffic jam at four o’clock in the afternoon.
Your speed also affects your following distance, as well as the distance that drivers behind you maintain. Practice regularly converting your speed in kilometers per hour to meters per second. Not only will this give you a more realistic picture, but many theory exam questions also address this.
You should know, among other things:
- The speed limits for various drivers on various roads.
- The meaning of various speed signs.
- The speed limit isn’t always the maximum speed.
- The minimum following distance.
- The stopping distance.
