Standing still – Bicycle lanes

stilstaan naast een fietsstrook

Standing still on a bicycle lane is prohibited, regardless of whether it has a solid or broken line.
Standing still on a bicycle lane is prohibited because it unnecessarily obstructs cyclists. When you stand still on a bicycle lane, cyclists in the lane must cycle around you. This can lead to dangerous situations because cyclists often fail to yield to oncoming traffic when swerving.
Standing still on the carriageway alongside a bicycle lane is also prohibited. This unnecessarily obstructs other traffic. You block the entire lane, and drivers behind you have to cross the lane for oncoming traffic, which can lead to dangerous situations. Standing still and parking in a parking space next to a bicycle lane, as shown in the image, is permitted.
