Pedestrian traffic lights

voetgangerslichten

Pedestrian crossings may have traffic lights. The meaning of the traffic lights is as follows:

  • Green light: Pedestrians may cross.
  • Flashing green light: Pedestrians may cross, but the red light will appear shortly.
  • Red light: Pedestrians may not start crossing; pedestrians who have already begun to must proceed as quickly as possible.
If a flashing yellow light replaces the red light, pedestrians may cross but must yield to other traffic. Pedestrians who prefer the certainty that other traffic will give them priority should wait for the green light to cross.
