Block marking

A block marking is a continuous line of blocks. These are used to separate acceleration and deceleration lanes from the main carriageway. The image shows a combined acceleration and deceleration lane with a block marking running lengthwise.
Drivers to the right of a block marking are permitted to overtake drivers to the left of the marking on the right.

If block markings are applied crosswise rather than lengthwise, they consist of two rows and are intended to indicate pedestrian crossings. The photo shows a crosswise block marking to indicate a cyclist crossing.

Block markings are sometimes also applied to bus stops.
You may not stop at a bus stop sign located near the block marking, or, if no such marking is present, within 12 meters of the bus stop sign. You may, however, briefly let a passenger board or disembark, as long as you do not obstruct the bus. Stopping at a bus stop to load or unload goods is prohibited.
