Bus carriageway

A bus carriageway is a separate or adjacent carriageway marked with the word “bus” or “lijnbus.”
If the word “BUS” is displayed on a carriageway, only buses or scheduled buses drivers may use it.
If the word “LIJNBUS” is displayed on a carriageway, only scheduled bus drivers are permitted to use it.
Emergency services may use the bus lane; they are exempt from the RVV if required for their duties.
Taxis often have an exemption. Taxi drivers may then use the bus lane. A sign may indicate this.
Other drivers are not permitted to use a bus lane.
Standing and parking in the carriageway adjacent to a bus carriageway is permitted. This is in contrast to a bus lane, where standing in the carriageway adjacent to a bus lane is prohibited.
