Temporary yellow line

It has been determined that traffic signs on the road surface must be white, unless otherwise specified for an individual sign. It has also been stipulated that when used temporarily, the colour of the traffic sign must be at least a colour other than white. Generally, this colour is yellow.
In practice, this sometimes led to confusion because when traffic signs are used temporarily on the road surface, temporary and other traffic signs with the same meaning, such as the solid line that may not be crossed to the left, could be present in the same location simultaneously, without it being clear or regulated which of these traffic signs drivers should follow.
In the image, you can now drive on the hard shoulder, as indicated by the yellow lines. If there is no other traffic on the road, you should drive as far to the right as possible. In the case of the photo, you are then driving on the hard shoulder, which has temporarily become a lane.
Article 63a of the RVV states the following regarding temporary stripes: “Temporary traffic signs placed or applied on the road surface take precedence over other traffic signs applied on the road surface, insofar as these traffic signs are incompatible.”
